Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Our safeguarding commitment
At KinRoute, safeguarding is at the core of everything we do. We are committed to ensuring every child is supported safely, responsibly, and with care.
1. What we are committed to
Protecting the welfare of all children in our care. Ensuring safe, structured journeys at all times. Preventing harm, abuse, or neglect. Acting immediately on any safeguarding concern.
2. Safeguarding framework
KinRoute operates as a managed coordination service. All assistants are carefully selected, vetted, and Enhanced DBS-checked. We provide consistency by matching families with the same assistant wherever possible.
3. Recruitment and vetting
All assistants must hold an Enhanced DBS check (verified and current), provide two professional references (independently verified), complete identity and right-to-work checks, and complete safeguarding awareness training. Only approved candidates are permitted to work with families.
4. Safe practice
Assistants must follow agreed routes at all times, maintain professional boundaries, ensure safe child handovers at pick-up and drop-off, and report any concerns immediately to the KinRoute safeguarding lead.
5. Safeguarding concerns
All concerns are taken seriously and addressed immediately. Where necessary, concerns will be escalated to the relevant safeguarding authorities without delay. We follow local authority safeguarding procedures and cooperate fully with any investigation.
6. Designated safeguarding lead
KinRoute has a designated safeguarding lead who can be contacted directly at hello@kinroute.com. All safeguarding concerns are treated as a priority.
7. Parent responsibilities
We ask parents to ensure child information is accurate and up to date, and to remain contactable during each journey. If any details change — medical needs, emergency contacts, school arrangements — please let us know immediately.
8. Confidentiality
All personal data is confidential and used only for service delivery and safeguarding purposes. Information will only be shared with external parties where there is a safeguarding concern or a legal obligation to do so.
