Safeguarding Policy

Every child who travels with KinRoute is handed over only to a named adult or school, is never left unattended, and is cared for by licensed, vetted and safeguarding-trained drivers and assistants.

1. Our commitment
KinRoute Ltd provides pre-booked private hire journeys for children and families. The safety and wellbeing of every child is our first priority. We aim to prevent harm, keep every journey structured and supervised, and act immediately on any concern.

2. Safe recruitment
•    Drivers hold a valid London private hire driver licence issued by Transport for London, which includes an enhanced DBS check. We verify every licence on the TfL register.
•    Assistants complete an enhanced DBS check before working with children.
•    All drivers and assistants provide two references and complete identity and right-to-work checks.
•    Everyone completes safeguarding training before their first journey, and refreshes it regularly.
•    Staff who take bookings hold a basic DBS check, as Transport for London requires.

3. Before each journey
•    Parents tell us in writing who will hand over and collect their child, and anyone who must not collect them.
•    Parents share any relevant needs, such as medical information or allergies.
•    Before the journey, parents receive the driver's first name, photo, licence number and vehicle registration.
•    Each family is matched with a regular driver.

4. During every journey
•    Children are handed over only to the named adult or school.
•    A child is never left alone in the vehicle, at the kerb, or at an unattended door.
•    If the named adult isn't there, the child stays safely with the driver while we contact the parent and agree

what happens next.
•    Drivers carry no other passengers and keep other booking apps switched off during KinRoute journeys.
•    Children travel in the rear, with an appropriate child seat or booster where needed.
•    Drivers confirm they are fit and rested before each journey, and drive no more than 10 hours a day.
•    Journeys are tracked, and a member of our team can be reached throughout every journey.

5. Driver and assistant conduct
Every driver and assistant follows our Code of Conduct. They must not photograph children, give gifts, ask for personal information, or contact children or families outside of bookings, including on social media. They must never smoke, vape, or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while working.

6. Raising and responding to concerns
•    If a child is in immediate danger, we call 999 first.
•    Any concern, disclosure or allegation is reported to our Designated Safeguarding Lead the same day.
•    Where needed, we refer concerns to the local authority's children's services or the police, and cooperate fully with any investigation.
•    If a concern relates to one of our drivers or assistants, they are stood down from KinRoute journeys while it is looked into, and we inform Transport for London where required.

7. Designated Safeguarding Lead
KinRoute's director is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. You can raise any safeguarding concern at hello@kinroute.com or on 020 3148 2882. All concerns are treated as a priority.

8. Working with parents
We ask parents to keep their child's details up to date, including named adults, emergency contacts, medical needs and school arrangements, and to remain contactable during journeys.

9. Confidentiality
Safeguarding information is kept securely and shared only with those who need it, or where the law requires, in line with our Privacy Policy.

10. Review
This policy is reviewed every year, or sooner if the law or Transport for London requirements change.
